        Realizing that a website cannot fully convey my activities, I have attempted to provide the observer with the best possible overview of my work and interests.

        I completed the M.A. program in history at the University of Ottawa in December 2006. My Memoir project focused on the interplay between Czech and Slovak Canadians in Montreal and the Czechoslovak Consul General's attempt (in Montreal) to promote the Edvard Beneš-led second Czechoslovak liberation movement in London during the Second World War. A condensed version of this study is currently under review with the academic journal Canadian Ethnic Studies / Études ethniques au Canada. A complimentary study to Canadian Czech and Slovak involvement in the Czechoslovak liberation movement and their status as 'enemy aliens' in Canada during the Second World War is in progress and is titled: Mistrusted Strangers at Home.

        My primary research interests are Canadian immigration history and ethnic studies, along with the history of modern East-Central Europe.

        In the past twelve months, I have given presentations on my research and interests at various academic colloquia and national conferences organized by: York University, Queen's University, Carleton University, University of Ottawa, and University of Winnipeg/University of Manitoba.

        Currently, I am in the process of establishing an online academic journal with fellow colleagues for those interested in North American immigration and Central European affairs. It will provide publishing experience and easy access to contemporary research currently being undertaken by young scholars across the world. PRAVO: North American Journal for Central European Studies will publish twice-a-year in English and French and will be and available online. Look for it in the next couple of months.
